Had the chance to cover the Grand Opening of Origano, a new restaurant in the midtown area – great food and great people! With the style of the night, I tried to concentrate on capturing the mood/atmosphere with more candid photos of people, while achieving a good balance of negative space in photography of the decor.
LandMark Events did a great job producing the party – even on a cold weekend in San Diego, people made it out to pack the restaurant. Talk about good restaurant pr! Right off of 5th avenue in the Hillcrest area of San Diego, Origano is in an awesome spot to grab a bite and then do a little window shopping.
The restaurant is run by an Italian family, and WOW – the culture really loves their food! There was a huge Italian presence at the party, some of the people didn’t even speak a word of English (I thought this was actually pretty cool) – you can always tell an authentic restaurant by the type of crowd it attracts. If the food didn’t speak for itself, everyone their could tell you how great it is to have a real italian restaurant in the area.
Here are a few favorites from the night:

Eileen Ramos - Ahhhhhh so many good ones here! Hard to pick my favorites, but I have to say – I think the ‘cabernet’ one and the one of the guy taking the pizza out of the oven are my favorite.
