Convention Visitor’s Bureau Awards Party

Last night, Hard Rock Hotel San Diego hosted the awards party for the Convention and Visitors Bureau. I was brought on to cover the event.

The night featured hosted cocktails and live music – the hotel brought in a local band, which got the crowd really into the dancing. It was cool to see Hard Rock host this night, as I feel I was given an inside look at how much they appreciate this organization. It kind of felt like I got to see the hotel’s sensitive side.

I always have fun covering corporate parties – I photograph quite a bit of the club parties where people really let loose, spray champagne, and lose their inhibitions. However, I feel like with these corporate parties, people REALLY put their heart into the celebration. There is a legitimate REASON for letting loose – not just because it’s the weekend. The people attending are usually really important to one another, and I think they deserve to celebrate all they’ve accomplished over the last year. It’s a genuine night of showing appreciation for one another and how much they really mean to be part of a growing team. It really shows the heart and soul of an organization. I’d take this kind of party any day over a champagne-filled night at the club…especially because it pays more.
