Rappongi 13th Anniversary Party

La Jolla celebrated one of it’s notable sushi restaurants double-digit birthday this past year, and you-know-who was there to photograph it! While the night was focused primarily on long-time customers & VIP clientele, I was limited on what I could shoot in regards to invading private party dinners & such. It was a privilege to not only…

San Diego Beer Week 2012

San Diego Beer Week has grown to be one of my favorite events to shoot.  Last year I had the privilege of shooting this event, and this year proved to be even more fun. Beer, brats, bread, and burgers filled the day at Torrey Pines Lodge, San Diego.  The capstone event featured all the best…

A blog about blogging

Yesterday I came across a random tweet about an event being held last night, and I decided I’d check it out – see what it had to offer. The event was a networking event for blog writers local to the San Diego area, and I had seen their name in a few tweets from some…

Andy - Nice write up, awesome picsDecember 20, 2011 – 1:02 pm

Tim - @Justin – yes. Quality, not quantity. Something that was difficult for me to learn going to these things. Talking with someone for a long time is much more worth it than meeting a ton of people and chit-chatting about the same surface stuff.

JM – I was using the 50mm – shot these at 1.4, 1/40th 1600 & 3200 ISO.December 16, 2011 – 1:36 pm

Surf & Sand Full Day PR Shoot

A majority of my work outside of weddings is public relations – and they’ve served as a great tool for getting creative “on the spot”.  As in, the shoots consist of a collection of ideas they’ve gathered to promote seasonal packages or menu items – but some kind of tie-in for the hotel. Just recently…

She’s the one in the big round dark sunglasses; you can see her clearly in your shot of Michael Kors and also in a couple others. Pretty much every person in the front row of that show was some big name in fashion. Nicely done, Tim!December 9, 2011 – 2:42 pm

Last week I shot the grand opening for RMD Group’s newest venue – F6ix. Can you guess where it’s located? Yep, you got it. F and 6th street downtown. If loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right

I’ve met a lot of photographers who are adamant about being “technically correct” when it comes taking photos. But you know what? Sometimes, being technically correct – sometimes just DOESN’T DO IT. For the most part, I like to think of my style as clean, fresh, fun, and modern. At times though, I think it…

Ashley Goodwin - Seriously interesting, for real! I have often wondered if I should go more “event” processing than “me” processing sometimes, and this totally worked. Especially love the italian place, you really thought about that one! & who in the heck has a VIP reception and then broadcasts it to the other patrons that can’t get in? I’d love to hear a little bit more about that one, not sure if I’m sold, but I’m sure you’d sell me on the tactic. :)
xoJune 22, 2011 – 9:59 am

s h e r r y - Awesome stuff. The post-processing you chose definitely fits each of these events! I find myself being more consistent than daring. I really should challenge myself to change it up a bit. I have a preset that I use to gently tweak each image, and then I’ll mess with them individually some more. I’ve been thinking of doing more b/w lately too! Gotta try it! :)June 21, 2011 – 10:21 pm

Megs - YES! Amen, amen, amen. Here is to letting your eyes choose. :) LOVE THIS POST.June 21, 2011 – 4:03 pm

Ben Nash - Yeah man, I hear ya. I like to use LR presets a lot! And I like making an image unique. Photography is always changing, so I think for photographers, a lot of what they produce will be changing. Maybe not a lot, but some. Unless your old school, and take the same kind of shots and edit them the same every time, I think inside of creativity you can have a lot of change. I agree that it’s probably good to stay consistent, but also creativity will create change and inconsistency to some level. Sweet pics man! I really like the Italian restaurant pics. Keep em’ coming. I admire your work.June 21, 2011 – 8:08 am
