My plans for this blog & what to expect this next month!

So with the 30 day challenge coming to a close, some of you may be wondering if I’m going to maintain my blog now.  Well, after thinking about all the benefits of doing this, I can’t imagine not “continuing” this wave.  Along with that, I’m also going to consider the drawbacks of doing one-a-day, and aim for about 2-4 posts per week.

My friend Jackie brought up a good point yesterday, which is the “reasoning” for doing a blog.  I love giving back to the photography community, and while I don’t feel comfortable with the level I’m currently at right now…perhaps someday I will consider the idea of doing workshops for photographers.  I feel there’s a big presence of new photographers in the industry already offering workshops, and this leads to a lack of respect from their peers for trying to cash in on “talking the talk” without actually “walking the walk”.  If there’s anything I post from a “teacher” standpoint, it’s because I feel like I have enough experience in that particular topic to share my knowledge and help benefit others.  There’s definitely a lot more I have to learn about the industry, and I’m excited to share it with you along the way.

With that said – I currently look at this journey as one that I’m embarking upon “with” all of you, and am a student in the industry as well.  I’m eager to learn from you all as well, and I can’t encourage enough for you guys to comment & engage in discussion regarding the posts I create.  Let’s grow together.

In the weeks to come, here are a few posts that you can look forward to seeing on this blog:

-Travel posts including my trip to Bali and Thailand (will be the next post on Monday)

-More recent work, including weddings & how to make low-budget events look ‘elegant’

-Guest posts from other industry professionals, and some helpful tips for clients

-More personal posts, including my own home-remodeling inspired by Ashley Goodwin

-Inspiration shoots!  Taking time in San Diego to create some shoots to promote the kind of clientele I want to work with

-Featured interviews I have done as a result of this 30 day challenge regarding my ideas on marketing

-New videos!  I’m currently in the process of perfecting my video promotions, and will be releasing a couple soon with a new image

-New websites, logo, and colors.  Changing my online websites to reflect my current style and feature my most recent work

And much more!  Looking forward to this coming year and growing along with you guys at the same time!

PS – one of the things I love most is hearing feedback & ideas from you guys in the comments.  If you have any questions, comments, or have a request for a topic you’d like to hear more about – I’d be more than happy to hear from you in the field below.  Catch you on the ‘flipside…

Erin Oveis Brant - I hope that karma is real because you’ve put so much good out into the world (and directed a fair share toward me) that you deserve it to come back at you in a HUGE way!! Thanks for everything…I’m so grateful to have you in my life!January 7, 2012 – 10:03 am

Dustin - Im really interested in the low budget post as well. I totally agree with you about the workshops. I know that I would not want to put that out there if I didn’t feel I had enough experience with that topic. Can’t wait to see these new entry’s.January 6, 2012 – 11:01 am

Brooke Schultz - I am excited for all of these posts! Especially how to make budget events look elegant–I’m assuming that’s from the standpoint of the photographer? I really love your approach of doing everything you can to make your business what you want it to be NOW, instead of waiting until you have more experience/gear/whatever other crap we make up to excuse ourselves from hustlin.
Thanks for the great work, and for sharing your knowledge.January 6, 2012 – 10:12 am

Lisa Faulkner - Hi Tim,
My favorite post of yours from the month was the one on Facebook timeline. Now that the 30 day blogging is done I can apply the tips!

As a hobby photographer I’d enjoy tips to I improve the shots I take for my blog. Eg, I’d love to improve my green smoothie shots that I’m taking daily as part of my #12in12 participation on twitter. It was a result of my blogging.

I too plan to continue consistent, though less frequent posts: 3-5 instead if 7 per week. Thanks for doing this!

My favorite result was the “Start Now!” reverberations! Here’s a link to my ten highlights:
