Andaz Hotel Halloween 2010

This weekend is a pretty big weekend for nightlife; probably second in revenue next to New Years Eve.

While on the main night I will be shooting Hard Rock’s event, I wanted to post a little about the Andaz Hotel‘s set up – probably because I’m just a sucker for branding & felt I had to share.

While other hotels/venues/warehouses might go crazy about packing the venue with as many heads as possible, I feel like the team at the Andaz San Diego concentrates on putting effort into every detail of the event, covering all ends. From the table pieces to the hand-prints on the wall to the outfits the dancers wear, the theme is on point.

As you might have guessed from my previous post, this is my favorite venue in San Diego. If I weren’t shooting certain events here, I’d probably go just because I can admire quality work when I see it. Recently I tried to tell one of the security guards to give me his “Ivy” branded gloves – (you know it’s a dope place when staff actually holds onto the uniform accessories as if they were limited edition.) [EDIT - I found out that those gloves are actually limited edition, and are no longer in production. Jay, one way or another, I'm getting those gloves!]

Anyways, the weekend is off to a pretty good start, and if you’re looking for a good place to go that will impress a date or make for good conversation – I’d suggest the Andaz hotel. If you’re looking to do lines of cocaine off exotic dancers’ fake boobs and party until 8 in the morning, I’d suggest Hard Rock. Haha, just kidding guys. (Kind of…)

Lindsey W - Ivy is one of the few venues I like going to in SD…I feel like it’s one of the only places that is actually good to go to without feeling like it’s some overcrowded rave filled with Jersey Shore guys. Ivy has an awesome view tooNovember 24, 2010 – 10:26 pm

Lisa Hobbes - Hahaha that comment about the Hard Rock is hilarious…so true lolNovember 11, 2010 – 10:25 am

Ryan Cross - Sweet pics Tim – were you using a low-light lens for this stuff? It doesn’t seem like you were using any artificial lighting or anything…any insight on the setup? Por favor…November 10, 2010 – 9:23 am

William TJ - That last shot of the dj is sick!November 3, 2010 – 2:23 pm

Ruby - Great photos Tim! I love your use of lighting to create the mood in this set…was that natural light on the 2 girls? I can’t figure out how you had them so well lit – anyways, fun costumes & it looks like it was a good time! I’ll have to make the trek downtwon one of these weekends & see what all the fuss is about hahaNovember 2, 2010 – 11:21 am

Eric Lee - Wow they did an awesome job with the decor – nice touch with the bloody handprints on the wall. Ivy always does special stuff like this for seasonal type things…good to have a place that does it rightNovember 1, 2010 – 11:08 am

Meghan Darby - Awesome pics Tim! This is such a fun set! I love the one of the guy with the white mask and the dj’s hands tooNovember 1, 2010 – 8:15 am
